This basket lid #980013 is a heat treating basket to cure aluminum aerospace components that were machined.
The baskets were washed in a solvent then acid dipped then put in a curing oven at 1875 degrees Fahrenheit for two hours then quenched in oil for 2 minutes then heated for one hour at 1460 degrees Fahrenheit then quenched in oil for one minute. The basket is married with a lid to hold the components snugly so they do not fall out during the quenching process.
