Job Description

  • Responsible for fabricating and assembling various metal products using tools, machines, and their own hands.
  • Build samples and test products.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure working environment is clean and safe.
  • Operate fabrication machines such as resistance welders, MIG welders, TIG welders, hand bending tools, press brake, grinders, ring roller, saw shear.
  • Select appropriate material such as mild steel, galvanized steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
  • Read and interpret measurements, blueprints, sketches, and assembly instructions.
  • Measure workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of operations, verify specifications, and alter dimensions to fit specifications.
  • Complete minor maintenance on machines, such as oiling machines, dies, or workpieces.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions and perform minor repairs as needed.
  • Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction.
  • Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Report errors in the production line.
  • Complete quality control forms in accordance with company procedures.
  • Communicate and provide information to supervisors and coworkers.
  • Remove burrs, sharp edges, or rust from workpieces.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Competencies

  • Welding: MIG, TIG, and Resistance.
  • Experience with stainless steel, plain steel, and aluminum.
  • Use measuring equipment (including tape measure, micrometer, etc.) for verification of parts to specification.
  • Understanding of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including the ability to learn new equipment and techniques.
  • Teamwork orientation.
  • Problem solving/analysis.
  • Technical capacity.

  • Select appropriate material as required by each job specification.
  • Keep raw materials storage area properly organized and all materials identified.
  • Read and interpret measurements, blueprints, sketches, and assembly instructions.
  • Measure workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of operations, verify specifications, and alter dimensions to fit specifications.
  • Set up and operate hand bending and pneumatic bending equipment as required per part specifications and machine capabilities.
  • Complete minor maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or workpieces.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions and perform repairs as needed.
  • Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunctions.
  • Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

Machine Operator – Pail Handle Department 2nd Shift

Machine Operator – Pail Handle Department

Marlin Steel Wire Products is actively searching for a machine operator in our pail handle department. Training would take place on our first shift (Monday-Thursday, 5 am to 3:30 pm) and after approximately 30 days, an individual would move over to 2nd shift (Monday-Thursday, 3:00 pm to 1:30 pm) which offers a $1 shift differential. Marlin Steel will provide on-the-job training.

Essential Functions:

  1. Ensure working environment is clean and safe.
  2. Operate pail handle machine - ensure that wire is coming out properly and not causing any jams.
  3. Read and interpret measurements and blueprints.
  4. Perform quality checks and in-process inspections while also maintaining paperwork.
  5. Bundle product and ensure it is properly packaged for shipment.
  6. Report errors in the production line.
  7. Communicate and provide information to supervisors and coworkers.
  8. Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Competencies:

  1. Use measuring equipment (including tape measure) for verification of parts to specification.
  2. Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including the ability to learn new equipment and techniques.
