The client, a major manufacturer of metal fabricating equipment, needed baskets for ultrasonic cleaning. Among the issues: they wanted a basket with the durability of steel but without metal-to-metal contact with sensitive parts that could scratch. Also, as is often the challenge with ultrasonic cleaning, they needed a basket to hold parts securely while accommodating complete immersion cleaning.
Marlin Steel’s solution was to wrap certain parts of the steel basket in PVC (Polyvinyl chloride) to protect delicate parts. The basket was also designed with inserts that allowed parts to fully rotate during cleaning to accommodate penetrant processing.
