Paperwork burden hurts Small Business - Small businesses face problems dealing with lawyers, regulations and the IRS. Marlin Wire spends between $30 and $40,000 each year in accounting fees. If we could redeploy that, we could hire an unemployed welder in Baltimore City. This would be a much better way to spend money. The Marlin Wire tax return for a small company in Baltimore City is 65 pages long. This is not productive. This is not a good way to compete with China.
Paperwork burden hurts Small Business 		Unemployment Taxes hurt job growth - The president said that 1/3 of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (the stimulus plan) went for tax relief for small businesses. Marlin has not received any relief. Maryland doubled the unemployment tax in January and that doubled amount will now be tripled. We are penalized for hiring new people and for keeping the existing people. The pain has been increased for companies hiring new people. It's now more difficult to retain good people since the government is makes it more expensive. This seems to be happening nation-wide. The government is tone-deaf as to how to grow small business and how to grow jobs. We've got to cut taxes.
Unemployment Taxes - hurt job growth 		Tax Cuts will restart economy - Obama needs to take a page from JFK, John F. Kennedy's playbook. To get the economy rocking and rolling in the '60s, John F. Kennedy cut taxes. Ronald Regan did that as well. This is a good tool to get small business fired-up and take a chance. Buy a piece of equipment, hire another person. If our taxes are lower, we're going to reinvest and grow the company. Christy Romer, Obama's financial guru, has written dissertations showing that if you raise taxes, there's less economic activity and if you lower taxes, you have increased economic activity. Obama's got to listen to JFK. He's got to listen to Christy Romer and then he will get this economy going.
