Engineers from Toyota's new plant in West Virginia visited Marlin Steel Wire Products on October, 2006. With the Toyota personnel, Marlin engineers on the spot designed custom stainless wire baskets to carry parts along the assembly line and through the parts washer, without any damage to the parts despite a bumpy ride and rather abrasive chemicals.
According to Drew Greenblatt, Marlin's president, "Toyota was quite demanding, with very tight tolerances and unexpected but reasonable requirements. They stretched us, but I think we were able to meet their needs. We look forward to continuing to work for them. We want to operate at the same level of excellence as they do."
